Jewellery Care.

Every piece of Sarah Dorans jewellery is made with care from precious metals and natural gemstones. Any advice given to you about the suitability of materials, design or choice of gemstone for your lifestyle is given to you in good faith and we cannot be held responsible for future damage to your jewellery.

Following are instructions on how to make your jewellery last a lifetime:

Take your jewellery off if you’re involved in any activity which could knock or damage it or cause potential for impact. Impact at the wrong angle can weaken the structure of your jewellery and possibly result in a gemstone becoming loose, falling out or even breaking.

Take it off when you go to bed

Take it off when washing your hands or using corrosive products that could permanently damage precious metals stones or pearls.

Take off for swimming. Chlorine is especially damaging

Keep your jewellery away from intense sources of heat and extreme temperature changes

Bathe and apply any lotions or perfumes before you put your jewellery on which can particularly damage stones like pearls or opals

Store it separately in a soft lined box or case so that your favourite pieces don’t tangle, rub or scratch one another

Maintenance

Have your jewellery checked regularly by your jeweller. Things to look out for:

Worn, damaged or missing claws on settings risk losing stones

Stones loose in their setting

Loose catches and clasps or rough links on chains and bracelets

Any fractures in metals

Pearls that are loose on their thread or where the thread is frayed

Too much movement in jointed hinges
